I live around here somewhere… and if you zoom in on this map a bit, you can see some good bushwalking tracks that are near my house! I regularly enjoy Burgess Falls walking track to the East, and Dante’s Glen walking track to the West, and I mean to try Empire Pass. To the North and South is World Heritage-listed wilderness! Gotta love it.

I’ve used the IRC nick ““sinewalker”” since about 1995. It had a meaning at one point, but I’ve forgotten it. Since it’s fairly unique (I know of no-one else using it), it’s my default handle everywhere on the Net now.

I’m a little eccentric. I prefer Dvorak keyboards to QWERTY, and I have eclectic tastes in music.

• I’m learning taekwondo, as part of my hacker training and general physical well-being. Presently at 1^st gup (Red III), 2 more grades to go until black belt!

• I’m a cat person. We recently had our 17-year-old moggie put down due to cronnic pain (the cat had the pain, and though the was a pain at times, that wasn’t what killed her)
• Star sign: Ω Libra (Virgo cusp), Moon sign: ≈ Aquarius
• I was born in the same year as the Intel 8080 microprocessor, it is five months older than me
• musical instruments I play: trombone, orchestral percussion (timpani , tubular bells, drums and traps), drumset (bit rusty), one-handed piano/keyboard/synth (I’m more a synth programmer than a performer…)

About this blog

This is a place for me to keep notes on things (err, all sorts of stuff that interests me), or little projects that I pretend to work on at times.

Why do I write here?

Four reasons:

1. I like to keep notes on how things work, for my own reference
   (sort of like a linear log)
2. I like helping others in some strange way
3. I have too many accounts all over the web with little comments etc., and I’d like to collect them all into one place
4. Playing with XHTML

How to find topics/ideas I’ve posted

I’ve categorised and tagged many of my posts. You can find stuff in this blog in a few different ways:

• View the list of Categories on the right-hand side-bar. This groups the blog’s postings by topic. Click any category for a list of all posts in this blog tagged with that topic
• You can enter a term in the search box in the top-right.
• You can also just browse through previous posts using WordPress’ Archives and Recent Posts sections of the left-hand side-bar

Blogs are a stupid waste of time and bandwidth, and this one doubly so!

Well I’m writing it for me, not for you. This is not some grand-standing soap box for me to right wrongs and proselytize (though there is some of that in my rants). It’s just that the stuff I post here isn’t particularly private, so why not put it on the Net where someone else might benefit?
